Le musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris offers a great opportunity to revisit the seductive and rich work of Zao Wou-ki (1920-2013), which combines both the abstract sign and the diaphanous color, the sources of an oriental art and the avant-gardes of the post-war period. This exhibition dedicated to the large format paintings of the artist goes through the typical earthy signs of the 50s: a night landscape in homage to Henri Michaux, the atmospheric colors evoking Monet and above all a broad conversation with his contemporaries of American abstract expressionism . Le musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris offre une formidable occasion de revoir l’œuvre séduisante et riche de Zao Wou-ki (1920-2013), qui mêle à la fois le signe abstrait et la couleur diaphane, les sources d’un art oriental et les avant-gardes de l’après-guerre. Cette exposition consacrée aux toiles de grands formats de l’artiste passe par les signes terreux typiques des années 50 : un paysage nocturne en hommage à Henri Michaux, les couleurs atmosphériques évoquant Monet et surtout une large conversation avec ses contemporains de l’expressionnisme abstrait américain. Un vrai bonheur.
